Alacare Patients and Families Say it Best...

Actions speak louder than words. Patients' personal stories are a powerful testament of our commitment to our patients and their families.

A touching story of a special mom and patient as told by RN Christy Whitehead, Alacare Home Health & Hospice Tuscaloosa Branch Manager.

Vietnam Veteran David Boshell tells of his experience as an Alacare Hospice patient.

Tommy Hammond and his step-daughter Kayla share their story of how Alacare Hospice cared for Ruth - their wife and mother - during the last stage of her fight with cancer.

"This is a thank-you note to you and the fine staff of Alacare in Dothan. Your staff of professional caregivers attended to our mother during her illness. As Mom taught us by precept and example, we expressed our verbal thanks to each caregiver for their skills and compassion. I wanted to write it out on paper, though, so you can see it in black and white and know just how deeply grateful we are for having you walk the last mile of our journey with us. I know there were times when we did not understand and we were short on patience, but the response from your staff was nothing short of commendable. Some went beyond the call of duty to comfort us during the funeral. I want to especially thank the following individuals for their service-a service seasoned with a generous measure of compassion: Shawna Wesley, Heather Johnson, Mike Dease, Tressa McCloud, Laura Oliver, Jay White and Katrina Faulk. Thank you for caring, thanks for sharing, and thanks, Alacare, for the memories. Thanks for the memories."

"Your Volunteer Coordinator, Beth Pratt, just did the best thing for my mother. She is having her 91st birthday today and Beth brought over five ladies that lived in the apartments where my mother used to live. One of the volunteers made a cake and sent it with them. It meant so much to my mother which in turn made me appreciate it. Words can never express how much she enjoyed the visit and the thoughtfulness behind it. In her daily life she has good days and bad days, but this has certainly been a wonderful day for her because of Beth."

"I wish to thank you for the professional and compassionate care provided by your Centre, Alabama, staff when my wife recently needed home health services. We have used home health agencies in the past and had a very negative view of them, so it was a real pleasure for my wife to receive the care that she did from Alacare. First, the therapist did a great job. The nurse, Kim Reece, was great, too. I especially want to commend Misty Beecham, the aide. She is a joy for the patient because of her personality and her willingness to do the small extras. She takes her job very seriously and does it with a smile and a joke. Please commend these people for me."

"To everyone at Alacare Hospice that helped our mother and our family in any way…we just had to tell you all how much we appreciated your help, your kindness and your prayers. We could not have made it without each and every one of you. When I would see someone from Alacare pulling into the driveway, my load would get so much lighter just knowing you were there. Our precious mom loved each of you so much. She would always say, ‘They are the sweetest people and they are so gentle and kind to me. They work so hard!’ So I know she is in heaven now and telling God all about you and what special people you are. All of us just wanted to say thank you for everything. We love you and we will never forget you!"
